It’s been so long since I’ve blogged. I know you’ve all been hanging by a thread just dying to know what’s happened lately.
The weekend before last was Valentine’s Day weekend. Melissa and I decided to meet up in Virginia for Valentine’s Day. [For those who don't know, Melissa and I have been besties since middle school, her family recently moved to Virginia. She's going to school in South Carolina, so she drove up to Virginia and I took the train down there.] Anywho…both of us had quite the little adventure trying to get there. Melissa’s SmartCar got a flat on the way. She had to be towed all the way back. My train got delayed and then had to stop for about an hour or more. We were both supposed to get there around 9pm….we got there around midnight!
Anyway, Virginia was a lot of fun. It was nice to get out of the city for a while. Hi, suburbia! Oh how I’ve missed you so!
We were able to watch the beginning of the Olympics. They were so much fun, I’d forgotten how exciting they were to watch.
Saturday we slept in some (when we woke up her mom had made homemade cinnamon bread!)….went to downtown Lynchburg and ate some lunch at a coffee shop. After that we did some errands (:)) and bought each other secret valentines. We went back to the Smiths’ house and had an impromptu-photoshoot. Here’s a little snapshot.

Her family ordered pizza and we watched more Olympics. Sunday, Valentine’s Day, Lissa and I went to a late movie (“Leap Year”–$1 movie theater–holler!). Then we went to good ol’ Cracker Barrel and had a smorghesboard [ed note: my mom informs me it's spelled 'smorgasbord'] of country goodness. We went back to Lissa’s house and exchanged Valentines…and….surprise!

We got each other the same one!
Dang we’re cute.
My train ride back was a lot better…and the weekend as a whole was so much fun!
This past weekend
Saturday I slept in and when I woke up I decided to go and visit Georgetown. I’d never been to this neighborhood before. A lot of people like it and I can definitely see why. It was more like a town/community than the other parts of D.C. Maybe it’s a little on the preppy side…but it was a nice part of the city. I went to Georgetown Cupcake
Soo good!
Sunday I went to the Air and Space Museum….

(from my phone’s camera)
It was interesting, but here’s the thing: I really don’t like large spaces….really, just large museums or stores. I get really overwhelmed when there are a lot of “options” at my disposal. I just hate having to feel like I have to “see it all” and can’t miss anything. Is this crazy? Because surely I’m not the only person who’s like this. That’s one of the reasons I don’t shop in department stores anymore…too much!
Then I trekked my bootie over to the National Archives. Took a little glanci-poo at the Declaration and the Constitution. And when I was looking at them here is what I thought about (don’t judge):
- Wow, that’s some really good penmanship. I wonder what they would have done if they’d made a typo in the middle of it? Oopsy
- Imagining them signing the Constitution and what it was SUPPOSED TO MEAN back then. I wonder what our forefathers would think now….? Ok, well I guess that’s a natural reaction…
- Ok, last thing…really I was thinking about the movie National Treasure. And that little boy who kept walking in and taking down the letters. First, that room was not like the movie (SHOCK!) and then, also, I couldn’t even read those papers anymore…there’s no way a little boy could count those letters! And here I thought movies were REAL!

It was a lovely day Sunday…although I was sick (I have a bad cold) I really enjoyed the walk back. It was slightly overcast, but it was about 40 degrees out…which, considering the weather we’ve had here….was basically like 70. Here are a few shots from my phone’s camera.

These photos are nothing special…but I think the blogs are more interesting when there’s something to look at…hope it gives you a little better of a picture into my life!
Anyway–that’s my life lately. Hopefully I can try and keep up with the blogging. As I said, I have a nasty cold. I’m feeling a little better today…but it comes and goes randomly. One minute I’ll be fine and able to breathe out of my sniffer, the next I’m miserably stuffed up. Hopefully tomorrow I will wake up completely healed!
My mommy (no shame, I’m just gonna put it out there–yeah, mommy) comes to pick me up three weeks from tomorrow and I’m not even going to pretend I’m not counting down the days. It’s not that I’m bored here or I don’t have things to do…because I do. But I miss being with my friends, being with my family, having my comfort-things, etc. I’ve said it before, but again…no matter where I end up, I’m just going to be happy to move somewhere and STAY there!
Work’s going well, and as far as the job hunt goes…I haven’t heard back from anything yet really. I’m applying to jobs mostly in the south, but there are a few jobs that I really want that are further away. I have a feeling that I will start to hear back from some the week before/week of me leaving D.C. Hopefully something will work out sooner rather than later!
OK–I’m going to go now…rest, watch Law and Order: SVU, dinner, work project…blog ya later! (Is that corny? I need a signature “sign-off”…)
